PROJECT: HEALTHY ARRIVAL
Project: Healthy Arrival is a powerful initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the alarming health disparities that disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities, particularly in maternal care. Our mission is clear: we strive for Michigan to achieve zero preventable deaths and eliminate inequities in medical treatment for birthing mothers, their partners, and families. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we aim to create a future where every mother and family receives the highest standard of care, regardless of race or socioeconomic background. Together, we are working to ensure that every birth is a healthy and safe arrival.

Tackling Racial & Social Inequities
WVTC Detroit’s Project: Healthy Birth is dedicated to addressing the barriers to care faced by Black women and birthing individuals in Michigan, regardless of income or education. Every year, preventable maternal deaths impact too many families, but through this initiative, we aim to improve birth outcomes, reduce maternal deaths, and tackle racial and social inequities. By listening to Michigan families and working towards zero preventable deaths and health disparities, we can ensure every child gets a healthy start. Join us in this vital mission to create a healthier future for all families.

Project: Safe Sleeping
The Safe Sleep PSA is part of WVTC Detroit’s Project: Healthy Arrival initiative, powered by the Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Coalition. This 60-second public service announcement educates families on the importance of creating a safe sleep environment for babies to prevent sleep-related deaths, which disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities. By promoting the “ABCs” of safe sleep — Alone, on their Back, in a Crib — the PSA supports Michigan’s goal of achieving zero preventable infant deaths and eliminating health disparities. Through awareness, advocacy, and education, we’re working to ensure every baby has a healthy and safe start.
